About FileGizmo

Useful file tools without the usual ceremony.

FileGizmo is a free file toolkit that runs entirely in your browser — files are never uploaded.

Why this exists

Simple file jobs too often begin with an upload, an account prompt, an artificial usage cap, or a vague promise that a remote copy will eventually be deleted. FileGizmo takes a quieter approach. The tools load on the page, process the input on your device, and create the result there.

That choice improves more than privacy. It removes upload queues, avoids storing personal documents, and lets the interface focus on the task instead of an account funnel.

Local by designYour files are read by browser code on your device, not sent to a FileGizmo processing server.
Useful before profitableCore tools should solve the job without a signup wall, watermark, or manufactured delay.
Honest limitsBrowser memory, format support, and output tradeoffs are explained where they matter.
Small, durable softwareThe site is static, dependencies are kept deliberate, and heavy code loads only when a tool needs it.

How the privacy claim can be checked

FileGizmo does not ask you to trust a badge. Open your browser’s developer tools, select the Network panel, clear its entries, and process a file. Tool assets may load from FileGizmo’s own origin after you choose a tool, but the contents of your file are not posted to a processing endpoint.

The short versionThe product’s privacy promise comes from its architecture, not from a deletion policy applied after an upload.

How editorial reviews work

FileGizmo guides are written and tested by the FileGizmo Editorial Team. The product team reproduces each workflow in a current browser, checks technical claims against the implementation, and links primary sources for limits, platform behavior, standards, and competitor policies. Each guide shows its last review date so you can judge how current the evidence is.

We credit a built-in operating-system feature when it is the faster answer. Comparisons record the verification date and separate vendor claims from behavior we measured ourselves. If a claim cannot be reproduced or supported by a current primary source, it is omitted or marked as unverified.

Who is behind it

FileGizmo is an independent product rather than a venture-backed document cloud. That independence is intentional: fewer incentives to collect user data, add account friction, or turn basic utilities into subscriptions.

Development decisions, releases, and fixes are recorded in the public changelog. Bugs and product requests can be reported through the contact page.

What FileGizmo is not

It is not permanent file storage, a collaboration suite, or a substitute for professional advice. FileGizmo does not inspect your documents, recover files after the page is closed, or claim that browser processing removes every risk on a compromised device.
