Simple by design

Address to coordinates in three steps

Turn a spreadsheet of street addresses, venues, customers, or service locations into latitude and longitude coordinates. FileGizmo keeps the source CSV in your browser, reads the address column locally, and adds four useful fields: latitude, longitude, the provider’s matched address, and a clear result status. Unmatched or failed rows remain in place, making the downloaded file easy to audit and retry.

Geocoding requires a map-data provider because coordinates cannot be derived from an address offline. This tool uses your own Geoapify API key. When you start processing, each address and your key are sent directly from your browser to Geoapify; the full CSV is never uploaded to FileGizmo. The interface states this boundary before processing, and the key is not saved in local storage or included in the output.

Enter the address column exactly as it appears in the CSV header. Requests are paced to avoid overwhelming free-tier limits, and live progress shows matches, misses, and errors. You may cancel a running job. FileGizmo supports batches of up to 5,000 rows, while your provider account controls the actual daily quota. Formula-like CSV values are escaped in the export for safer spreadsheet opening.

Frequently asked questions

Does FileGizmo upload my CSV?

No. The CSV file stays in your browser, but each address is necessarily sent to Geoapify for geocoding after you start the job.

Is my API key stored?

No. The key stays in page memory for the current session and is sent only to Geoapify with your requests.

What happens when an address cannot be found?

The original row remains in the output with blank coordinates and a not_found or error status for review.

How many addresses can I process?

FileGizmo accepts up to 5,000 rows per batch. Your Geoapify plan determines request quotas and rate limits.
