Bundle files without sending them anywhere
A ZIP is the simplest way to send several files as one. It is useful when an email or a form accepts a single attachment, when a folder of photos needs to travel together, or when a set of documents should stay in one piece. This page builds the archive in your browser, so the files are not handed to a service to be packed.
Choose the files, look over the list, and remove anything you added by mistake. Add more files at any point before you create the archive. The order does not matter to the ZIP itself, because an archive is a directory of entries rather than a sequence of pages.
What is compressed
Each file is either deflated or stored. A text file, a CSV or an uncompressed image such as a BMP shrinks well when deflated. A JPG, a PNG, a WebP, a document saved as DOCX or XLSX, and an existing ZIP have already been compressed by the format itself, and deflating them again saves very little for real time spent. So those are stored, which is both faster and no larger in practice. The result is a normal ZIP that any operating system opens.
Names and dates
Files go into the archive by name, with no folders. If two files have the same name, both are kept and the second is numbered before its extension, so report.pdf and report.pdf become report.pdf and report (2).pdf. Each file keeps the modified date it had on your device, as long as that date is one the ZIP format can hold, which is the years 1980 to 2099.
Limits
The free plan takes up to twenty files in one archive. The files together can be up to 512 MB, which is also the ceiling the unzip tool applies when it opens an archive, and the archive is built in memory, so a very large set is better split into two ZIPs. There is no password option. ZIP encryption of the older kind is weak, and a tool that offered it would suggest protection it does not give.
Opening the result
The archive downloads as filegizmo-files.zip. The ZIP is a standard one, so any program that opens ZIP files can read it. To check what you made, use Unzip, which lists the files inside and lets you save each one.
Nothing leaves the device
The files are read by your browser and packed by a local worker. There is no account, no queue on a server and no copy kept anywhere else.

Nothing is uploaded, and you can verify it
Processing runs on this device. Open the browser’s Network panel while the tool works and you will see no file upload request to FileGizmo. Temporary previews use local browser URLs, and closing or resetting the page releases them instead of leaving a server copy behind.
No limits, no watermarks
Use the tool without a daily task counter, account wall, output watermark, or artificial upload cap. FileGizmo does not meter a transfer it never receives. Available memory, processor speed, browser canvas limits, and the file format itself set the practical limit.
Works on any device, and offline after first load
Use a current browser on desktop, Android, iPhone, or iPad without installing an app. Once this tool and its required assets load, the cached workflow works without a connection. Large jobs are usually more comfortable on a desktop with additional memory.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to make the ZIP?
No. The archive is built by a worker in your browser, on your device. The files are not sent to FileGizmo or to any other service, and closing the tab discards the working copy.
Will the ZIP be smaller than the files?
Text, spreadsheets and other uncompressed files usually shrink. JPG, PNG and other already compressed files barely shrink, so they are stored as they are, and the ZIP is about as large as the files together.
Can I put folders in the ZIP?
Not yet. Files are added one level deep, with no folders. Two files with the same name are both kept, and the second gets a number in brackets before its extension.
Is there a limit on how many files or how big?
The free plan takes up to 20 files at a time. The files together must stay under 512 MB, because the whole archive is built in memory on your device.
Can the ZIP have a password?
No. This tool makes ordinary ZIP files without encryption. To protect a PDF with a password, use Protect PDF.
