Open a document locally, inspect the extracted text, then choose whether to send that text directly to OpenAI for one focused job. FileGizmo never receives the document, the extracted text, or your API key.

Provider mode sends text off your device.
This is not one of FileGizmo’s local-only file tools. The original file is opened in your browser, but the extracted text is sent directly from your browser to OpenAI only after you tick the consent box. OpenAI’s terms, retention settings, rate limits, and charges apply to that request.

Human review stays mandatory
AI output is a draft, not evidence.
Check amounts, names, dates, omissions, and table alignment against the original. A redaction run produces reviewed text only. It does not alter or secure the source file.
For a PDF you need to share, mark and verify the final document with Redact PDF. For a scan with no selectable text, use local OCR first.

What leaves, who pays, and what to verify
Does FileGizmo receive my API key?
No. The key is read by this browser page and placed only in the request sent directly to OpenAI. It is never sent to FileGizmo or the account service.
Does the document stay on my device?
The original file stays on your device. After you explicitly enable provider mode, the readable text extracted from it is sent to OpenAI. That is different from FileGizmo’s normal local-only file tools.
Who pays for the AI request?
Your OpenAI project pays OpenAI at its current API rate. FileGizmo does not add a credit charge, proxy fee, or request limit. Your FileGizmo Starter or Lifetime plan unlocks the workspace.
Can AI redaction be trusted without review?
No. The result is a review copy of extracted text, not a securely redacted source file. AI can miss sensitive text or flag harmless text. Inspect every replacement and use the dedicated PDF redaction tool for a final PDF.
