SVG to PNG in three steps
An SVG is a set of drawing instructions, which is why it stays sharp at any size and why plenty of places will not accept one: slide decks, app stores, social posts, email signatures and document editors often want a PNG. Converting one means choosing a size, and the size is the part that matters.
Drawn at the size you choose
Drawing an SVG at its own small size and then enlarging the pixels gives a blurry logo. Here the SVG is told the output size before it is drawn, so a 4x PNG has four times the detail rather than bigger pixels. Pick 1x, 2x or 4x of the size the file declares, or type an exact width and the height follows. An SVG with only a viewBox and no width or height uses the viewBox as its size.
Transparency kept
Anything the SVG does not paint stays transparent in the PNG, which is what you want for a logo or an icon on a coloured background. Choose a white background instead when the PNG is going somewhere that renders transparency badly.
Safe with files from anywhere
SVG is a format that can carry scripts and links to other files. This page never runs them: the file is loaded as a picture, which is the mode in which browsers ignore scripts and fetch nothing. It is drawn on your device and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to convert an SVG I did not make?
Yes. The SVG is loaded the way a web page loads a picture, and in that mode a browser runs none of the file's scripts and fetches none of the images, fonts or stylesheets it links to. The file is never parsed into a live page.
Why does my SVG come out with missing pictures or fonts?
Because linked files are not fetched, as above. Pictures and fonts embedded in the SVG itself are drawn; ones it links to by address are not. Embed them, or convert text to outlines in your editor, and convert again.
How large can the PNG be?
Up to 10,000 pixels wide, and 100 million pixels in total, which is the limit every image tool on the site uses. Because the SVG is drawn at the output size rather than scaled up afterwards, 4x is as sharp as 1x.
Is the background transparent?
Yes, by default. Choose White for a file that will be pasted somewhere that shows transparency as black, such as some chat apps and older software.
