Edit an image in one private workspace

An image editor is most useful when it lets you finish a small visual job without turning that job into a project. FileGizmo’s combined editor brings the common operations together: crop the composition, rotate or flip it, set final dimensions, adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation, place text or shapes, draw a note, and conceal a region with blur or pixelation. You can review all spatial edits on the actual image preview before producing one final file.

The privacy model is different from a conventional hosted editor. Your selected image is decoded by the browser, and its pixels remain on your device. The editing controller records normalized positions rather than uploading a working document. When you export, a dedicated browser worker applies those instructions to the source image and returns a local Blob for preview and download. There is no account step, cloud project, temporary upload, or server-side job queue.

That local architecture also makes the workspace practical for sensitive screenshots, identity documents, customer images, unreleased product photography, and internal diagrams. You should still inspect the final result before sharing it, especially when using blur. Pixelation and blur alter the visible pixels but are not substitutes for removing confidential source material from every related file or system. For a screenshot that contains a password or recovery code, crop the secret away when possible instead of relying only on a visual effect.

The crop frame is an editable object rather than a fixed centre crop. Drag it to keep the subject, resize it from the large corner handle, and use the rule-of-thirds guide to check balance. Text, shapes, drawings, blur, and pixelation areas use the same coordinate system, so their placement maps consistently to the exported image. Undo and redo are shared across these objects. Keyboard users can focus an item and nudge it with arrow keys; holding Shift moves it farther. Touch users can drag with a thumb, pinch to zoom, pan with two fingers, and long-press an item for its context actions.

Brightness changes the overall light level, contrast expands or compresses the difference between light and dark areas, and saturation changes colour intensity. These controls update the preview immediately through the browser’s visual pipeline. The export worker applies the same values to the full editing canvas. Moderate adjustments usually look more natural than extreme settings, particularly on portraits and compressed screenshots.

Rotation and flipping are non-destructive instructions until export. You can rotate in 90-degree steps and flip horizontally or vertically. Optional width and height fields set exact output dimensions; leaving them empty preserves the dimensions produced by the crop and rotation. The editor rejects output sizes that exceed conservative browser memory limits instead of letting the tab fail without explanation.

For a transparent cutout, choose Open background remover. FileGizmo stores the source temporarily in this browser’s IndexedDB handoff store, opens the dedicated background workspace, consumes the file once, and removes the handoff token from the address bar. The file is not transmitted. Handoff entries expire automatically, and downloading remains available whenever a browser blocks local storage.

Large photographs need special handling because a 6000 by 4000 image occupies far more memory after decoding than its compressed file size suggests. FileGizmo draws a tiled, reduced preview when the image crosses a safe threshold. This keeps crop handles and overlays responsive on a phone-sized viewport. The notice above the canvas explains the downgrade honestly; the source file still feeds the full-quality export path. Current automated endurance testing opens a 6000 by 4000 fixture on a 360 by 740 touch viewport and verifies that the editor becomes interactive within the performance budget.

Choose PNG when transparency or sharp interface graphics matter, JPG for photographs where a smaller file is useful, and WebP for modern web delivery. Exporting to a lossy format can change fine detail, so keep an original copy when the image may need another editing pass. FileGizmo never adds its own watermark and does not impose a daily task allowance. The practical limits are the memory and canvas capabilities of your browser and device, which the editor reports directly instead of hiding behind an upgrade prompt.
