These are document-specific examples, not a universal rule. Open the source and confirm the active application notice before submitting.

Why this tool

Produce a portal-ready PDF at or below 200KB

Compressing a PDF to 200KB is useful only when the destination really imposes that ceiling. Recruitment portals often have different limits for a photograph, signature, caste certificate, disability certificate, declaration, or other supporting document. The same organisation can also change requirements between notices. Read the active upload label and official notification before modifying a readable file.

The 200KB preset means 204,800 bytes or less. FileGizmo processes the source in a dedicated browser worker, renders each page, and searches combinations of page resolution and JPEG quality. It starts with clearer candidates and steps down only when the complete output would exceed the ceiling. The chosen result is saved as a new PDF and verified before the download button appears.

This approach is deliberately separate from the standard PDF compressor. Lossless structural optimization preserves text and vectors but cannot guarantee a strict result for image-heavy scans. Target-size compression can reach a much smaller ceiling because it turns each page into a compressed image. That also means selectable text, forms, hyperlinks, layers, attachments, comments, and cryptographic signatures do not survive. Use it for a visual submission copy and retain the source as your master.

Preparation strongly affects quality. Delete only pages the portal does not request. Rotate pages upright and crop empty scanner borders without touching official content. If the source is a phone photograph, a clean, evenly lit capture with the document filling the frame compresses better than a tilted image containing a desk, shadows, and background objects. Never erase or obscure seals, dates, QR codes, registration numbers, or handwritten marks.

The result is valid only if it remains readable. Open the downloaded PDF and inspect every page. Zoom into small serial numbers and pale stamps. Confirm that the issuing authority, applicant name, document category, and dates are unambiguous. Try the QR code if it is part of verification. If the smallest details break apart, use a larger permitted limit or prepare fewer pages rather than submitting an unreadable file.

Long documents may honestly fail a 200KB target. FileGizmo applies a minimum bytes-per-page guard and stops when further reduction would be irresponsible. Splitting is appropriate only when the portal provides separate fields or explicitly allows multiple files. Do not split a multi-page certificate that must be submitted as one complete record.

The maintained official-source rows shown with the tool are context, not a claim that 200KB is universal. They include document names and verification dates so you can see how limits vary. Open the source relevant to your application and treat the live portal as the final acceptance authority.

Built for the whole job

Everything you need

Exact 200KB ceiling

The final file is checked against 204,800 bytes and the result shows its actual size before download.

Resolution and quality balanced together

Adaptive search prefers a clearer render and only steps down when the finished multi-page PDF would exceed the target.

Built for visual upload copies

The workflow is designed for certificates and scans where a portal needs a flattened PDF, with every lossy change disclosed.

Nothing is uploaded — verify it yourself

Processing runs on this device. Open the browser’s Network panel while the tool works and you will see no file upload request to FileGizmo. Temporary previews use local browser URLs, and closing or resetting the page releases them instead of leaving a server copy behind.

No limits, no watermarks

Use the tool without a daily task counter, account wall, output watermark, or artificial upload cap. FileGizmo does not meter a transfer it never receives. Available memory, processor speed, browser canvas limits, and the file format itself set the honest practical boundary.

Works on any device — and offline after first load

Use a current browser on desktop, Android, iPhone, or iPad without installing an app. Once this tool and its required assets load, the cached workflow works without a connection. Large jobs are usually more comfortable on a desktop with additional memory.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF to 200KB?

Upload the PDF, select the 200KB preset, run adaptive compression, and inspect the downloaded result. FileGizmo verifies that the finished file is no larger than 204,800 bytes.

Can a PDF be compressed to exactly 200KB?

Portals normally specify a maximum, so exactly 200KB is unnecessary. FileGizmo aims for the clearest result at or below the ceiling rather than padding the file to an exact number.

Will text remain selectable after target compression?

No. Strict target mode rebuilds pages as images. Use the standard lossless PDF compressor when selectable text, links, forms, or layers must remain intact.

Is 200KB an official SSC or UPSC limit?

Do not assume so. Current requirements differ by notice and upload field, and some national portals do not publish one universal PDF limit. Check the active official instructions.

Are government documents uploaded to FileGizmo?

No. The source PDF and every temporary page render remain inside your browser’s local processing context.
