Resize an exam photo or signature

Government recruitment portals commonly validate more than one property at once. A photograph can have the right shape but exceed the byte limit; a signature can be under the limit but use the wrong pixel dimensions; a PNG can look correct yet fail because the form accepts only JPG. This workflow combines those checks so you can see the dimensions, file type, and final KB before submitting an application.

Choose the preset for the portal and document you are preparing. FileGizmo fills the verified dimensions and size range, explains whether the dimensions are official or a clearly labelled helper output, and links to the primary notice used for verification. Requirements change between recruitment cycles, so the verification date is part of the interface rather than hidden in an article footnote.

The tool treats photographs and signatures differently. A portrait must normally fill a fixed frame. The photograph presets therefore make a centred crop instead of squeezing a wide or tall source into the required rectangle. A signature must remain complete and legible. Signature presets fit the entire scan inside the frame and use a white background for any remaining space. Neither approach invents facial detail or repairs an unreadable signature.

After fitting the image, a browser worker tries several JPEG quality levels and keeps the clearest candidate below the maximum. It then checks any minimum and reports exact pixels, KB, and JPG format. A simple signature that falls below a stated minimum can receive an empty standards-compliant JPEG comment segment, increasing bytes without changing visible pixels. An out-of-range result is clearly marked for review.

What the verified presets cover

The presets cover primary-source rules for IBPS photos and signatures, SSC signatures, current RRB signatures, BPSC signatures, and Kerala PSC images. UPSC is intentionally different: its 2026 notice describes uploaded and live photos plus three signatures but leaves numeric upload details to the portal. SSC specifies a 3:1 physical signature shape rather than pixels, so FileGizmo labels 300 × 100 as a helper output. State commissions do not share one standard; use Custom when yours is not listed.

How to avoid a rejected upload

Start from a clear source with even light and the required background. Select the exact document, not merely the organisation: photo, signature, thumb impression, declaration, and PDF rules differ. Inspect the result for cropped facial features, blurred eyes, missing signature strokes, or compression artifacts. Keep the original source separately so a later rule change does not force you to enlarge an already reduced JPEG.

Private processing for identity documents

An application photograph and signature are identity material. FileGizmo keeps them in local browser memory, processes them in a dedicated worker, and creates only a temporary local preview. Use a trusted device, clear abandoned downloads, and open the Network panel if you want to verify that the image is not transmitted.
